Alana is an employment and industrial relations lawyer based in Sydney, with specialist expertise in industrial advocacy and work health and safety (WHS) law. She acts for employers and peak employer associations in complex and high-profile matters across Australia.
Industrial Advocacy
Alana regularly appears before the Fair Work Commission, Industrial Relations Commission of NSW and the Federal Circuit Court of Australia. Her experience includes advising and representing employers in matters involving:
· applications to vary modern awards
· underpayment claims
· general protections and discrimination disputes
· unfair dismissal proceedings
· supported bargaining authorisation applications
· protected industrial action
· summonses relating to WHS offences
Since 2021, Alana has represented employer interests in major work value proceedings, including the Aged Care Industry and Nurses Work Value Cases. She also appeared in the Gender Undervaluation – Priority Awards Review.

Alana supports national and state-based businesses with:
· WHS advice about duties and compliance
· responding to inquiries and notices from safety regulators
· board briefings on WHS developments and risk management
· tailored training and workshops for managers and workers
· preparing submissions for state and national WHS reviews, including Safe Work Australia’s Best Practice Review of the Model WHS Law
A sought-after speaker on psychological safety and psychosocial risk management, Alana has most recently presented at the Industrial Relations Society of NSW Annual Conference (2025) and the HR Law Masterclass Conference (2025).
Investigations
Alana conducts confidential workplace investigations into misconduct, complex behavioural concerns and whistleblower disclosures.
Before joining ABLA, Alana worked as Associate to the Honourable Justice Michael Walton of the Supreme Court of NSW.
